Privacy controls
Bredbox gives you separate controls for how your data is used, for taking it with you, for starting over, and for closing your account. The destructive ones ask you to confirm by email, so a stray click never costs you your library.

Turn off personalized recommendations
Section titled “Turn off personalized recommendations”This one is not destructive and takes one click. Open Settings → Interests and choose Turn off personalization.
Bredbox then stops using your interests and your saved library to recommend anything, and For You is no longer available. Discover and New on Bredbox keep working: they show what the community is saving, not anything drawn from you.
Turning personalization off is a choice about processing, not a deletion request. Your interests and your saved library stay exactly as they are, and Turn on personalization restores your feed without asking you to choose topics again. If you want the underlying data gone as well, use Clear data below.

Export before making destructive changes
Section titled “Export before making destructive changes”If you may need your saves later, export your data first:
- Open Settings → Exports and request an export. See Export your data for the formats.
- Download the ZIP file when it’s ready.
- Confirm you can open the file before clearing or deleting anything.
Clear your data
Section titled “Clear your data”Clear data removes your library contents but keeps your account.
- Open Settings and find the Privacy section.
- Under “Clear my Bredbox data”, choose Clear data.
- Confirm the request, including the confirmation step Bredbox emails you.
Clearing data removes your saves, highlights, and collections, and it also clears the interests and hidden recommendations behind your For You feed. It does not change whether personalization is on: that stays set the way you left it, so it still applies to anything you save afterward.
Clearing data is for cases like:
- Starting over with a fresh library
- Removing old saves before a new workflow
- Keeping your account and billing history while deleting saved content
Delete your account
Section titled “Delete your account”Delete account permanently closes the account.
- Export anything you may want later.
- Open Settings, find the Privacy section, and under “Delete my Bredbox account” choose Delete account.
- Follow the confirmation link Bredbox emails you. The deletion is queued only after you confirm, which protects you from accidental or unauthorized requests.
Make sure you can access the account’s email address before you start, since the confirmation arrives there.
Read-only accounts and deletion timing
Section titled “Read-only accounts and deletion timing”If a trial or subscription expires, your account enters read-only mode: your data stays put and export keeps working. Expired read-only accounts may eventually be deleted after the retention period shown in the app’s billing flow.
