Common problems

If something feels broken, start with the section closest to the action you were trying to complete. Each one gives the quick fix and links to the guide with the full story.

Try these in order:

  1. Make sure the URL is valid and loads in a browser.
  2. Check whether the same URL already exists in your library — re-saving is safe and just updates the existing save.
  3. If the extension is failing, save from the web app with + Add URL instead.
  4. Refresh Bredbox and try again.

The save appeared, but the preview is incomplete

This usually means the source page doesn’t offer much information, or processing simply needs more time. Wait a little and check again. If it still looks minimal, keep the save and use the original page when needed. More in Save links from anywhere.

Probably not! Deleted saves wait in Trash for 30 days. Open Trash in the sidebar and choose Restore. See Delete and restore saves.

Some pages don’t convert cleanly into Bredbox’s article reader — mostly interactive pages, paywalled pages, and unusual layouts. Use the View original link instead. More in Read without distractions.

Search is not finding something I know I saved

Work through the checklist in Find saves fast: fewer words, then the site name, then the collection or tag you’d have used, then Archive and Trash — and give brand-new saves a moment to finish processing.

  1. Confirm you are signed in to Bredbox — clicking the button while signed out starts the sign-in flow first.
  2. Check whether your browser disabled the extension pending a permission approval. See the permission note.
  3. Save the URL from the web app as a fallback.

Check that the file is a supported format, under 5 MB, and not empty — and re-export it from the original service rather than reusing a file you know is damaged.

Most sign-in problems come from using the wrong method for the account. Bredbox supports email and password, Apple, Google, GitHub, and Microsoft — sign in with the one you used to create the account. If you use email and password, try a reset from the sign-in page. More in Manage sign-in.

Read-only mode usually means your trial ended or your subscription needs attention. Open Settings → Billing and review your account state. See Manage your plan and data for what still works while read-only.

Check that:

  1. Your account has the Pro plan.
  2. The token or webhook has not been revoked or disabled.
  3. The token scopes or webhook event subscriptions match what your integration needs — an insufficient_scope error names the missing scope.
  4. Your account is not in read-only mode.
