Highlight and comment
Highlights turn a saved article into something you can study, quote, and revisit quickly — and comments let you record why a passage mattered while you still remember.
Create a highlight
Section titled “Create a highlight”- Open a saved article in Bredbox’s reading view.
- Select the text you want to keep.
- In the small toolbar that appears, choose Highlight — or Highlight and comment to attach a note right away.
The highlight is saved instantly and stays with the article.
Add a comment to a highlight
Section titled “Add a comment to a highlight”A comment is your own note pinned to a highlight — a reaction, a to-do, a translation, a “use this in the report.”
- Select text and choose Highlight and comment, or click an existing highlight and choose Comment.
- Write your note in the comment dialog and save it (
Ctrl+Enterworks too). - A small indicator appears in the margin beside commented passages.
Comments can be up to 2,000 characters. Click a highlight and choose Edit or Remove comment to change one later.
Review your highlights later
Section titled “Review your highlights later”You have three ways back to a highlight:
- In the article — highlighted passages stay marked whenever you reopen it. Click Toggle highlights in the reader toolbar to open a drawer listing every highlight in the article, with its comment; clicking one jumps to it in context.
- Across your library — the Highlights view in the sidebar lists every save that contains highlights.
- In your exports — highlights and their comments are included in your full archive export, and come back with an import, so your annotations are never trapped.
Remove a highlight
Section titled “Remove a highlight”Click the highlight in the article and choose Delete highlight — or remove it from the highlights drawer.
What highlights work on
Section titled “What highlights work on”Highlights are for text in Bredbox’s article reading view. Videos, images, and pages without extracted article text can’t be highlighted. (Recipes currently can’t either — save your kitchen notes as a collection note instead.)
