Create your account

Bredbox is in open beta. Anyone can create an account at bredbox.app/signup, and every new account starts with a 30-day Basic trial, no credit card required.

Create your account

Section titled “Create your account”
  1. Go to bredbox.app/signup.
  2. Choose how you want to sign in:
    • Email and password if you want a dedicated Bredbox login.
    • Apple, Google, GitHub, or Microsoft if you want to use an existing account.
  3. Finish the prompts on screen. Email and password sign-up includes a quick check that confirms you’re a real person.
  4. If Apple asks, choose Share My Email rather than Hide My Email. See below for why.
  5. If you signed up with email and password, open the confirmation email and follow its link before you try to sign in.

You are not locked to the method you picked. Bredbox recognizes your account by its email address, so any method that uses the same address (a password, Apple, Google, GitHub, or Microsoft) signs you into the same account and the same library. Sign-in methods on a different address create a different account, and the two cannot be merged.

Why Apple asks about your email

When you use Apple, Apple offers to hide your email address. If you choose Hide My Email, Apple gives Bredbox a private alias like a1b2c3d4@privaterelay.appleid.com instead of your real address, and that alias becomes your account’s email.

Because the alias never matches your real address, hiding your email means:

  • Apple is effectively your only sign-in method. Trying Google, GitHub, Microsoft, or email and password later creates a second, empty account.
  • Bredbox email reaches you only if Apple forwards it to you. That includes billing notices, export notifications, password resets, and account-deletion confirmations.

Choose Share My Email if you want the option of signing in another way. Already hid it? Manage sign-in explains what still works.

Sign up from the mobile app

The mobile app sends you to the website to register:

  1. Open the Bredbox app and tap Sign up on the login screen.
  2. The app opens bredbox.app/signup in your phone’s browser: create your account there.
  3. Return to the app and tap Login.
  4. Sign in with the method you just used to register.

What to do after your first sign-in

Once you’re in Bredbox, these are the best next steps:

  1. Save your first link so you can see how your library works.
  2. Already have saves in Pocket, Instapaper, or browser bookmarks? Import your library: it’s the fastest way to make Bredbox feel like home on day one.
  3. Visit Settings to review your profile and account details.

If something goes wrong

I didn’t get my confirmation email

Check your spam or promotions folder first. If it still hasn’t arrived, use Resend verification email on the check-your-email screen. That screen also links to Log in and Forgot password?, which are the right next steps if you already have an account for that address.

I signed in and landed in an empty account

Your sign-in method used a different email address than the one your library is on, so Bredbox created a second account. Sign out and sign in with a method that uses the original address. The usual cause is picking Hide My Email with Apple and then trying another provider.

The verification check will not complete

The check needs JavaScript enabled in your browser. If your browser blocks it, sign up with Apple, Google, GitHub, or Microsoft instead: those work without it.
