Save links from anywhere

You do not need to save links the same way every time. Pick the option that matches where you found the link.

Option 1: Save from the web app

Use this when you already have the URL copied and want the most predictable flow.

Copy the URL.
Open Bredbox.
Click the + button in the header — on any page — or press =. The Add Link dialog opens.
Paste the URL.
Optionally give the save a title of your own, add tags, and tick Favorite or Archive.
Click Save.

Leaving the title on Detect from web page lets Bredbox work the title out from the page itself, which is usually what you want.

If the URL is already in your library, Bredbox tells you — “Already in your library — updated” — and adds whatever is new: any tags you typed, and Favorite or Archive if you ticked them. It never removes tags or clears a favorite you set earlier, so re-adding a link is always safe. Re-adding also brings a save back from Archive or Trash, so it’s a quick way to resurface something you put away.

This is the best option when you are cleaning up a list of links or moving items over one by one. If you have a whole file of links, use Import your library (Settings → Imports) instead.

Option 2: Save with the browser extension

Use this when you are browsing and want to save the current page without breaking your flow.

Open the page you want to keep.
Click the Bredbox extension button.
A small Bredbox window opens and saves the page.
Add a title, tags, Favorite, or Archive if you want them, then save — or close the window and keep the page as captured.

Option 3: Save from your phone or tablet

Bredbox works in any mobile browser. Open bredbox.app, sign in, and use the same + button — the site adapts to small screens, so saving from your phone feels the same as saving from your desk.

What Bredbox captures for you

When a save succeeds, Bredbox collects what it can from the page:

Page title
Site name
Favicon
Description
Preview image
Reading or recipe content when available

That means your library is easier to scan later, even if you only pasted a bare URL.

When metadata looks incomplete

Give the save a little time first. Some pages take longer to process than others.

If a save still looks sparse later, the most common causes are:

The site doesn’t allow other apps to read its pages.
The page has very little information for Bredbox to work with.
The page builds its content with scripts, so there’s no clean article text to capture.

You can still keep the link even if the preview is minimal.

Which option should you use?

Whichever removes the most friction:

Web app for deliberate cleanup and batch work.
Browser extension for everyday browsing.
Import when your links live in another app or a file. See Import your library.
