Use collections
Collections are the best tool when you want a stable home for a set of related saves.
Examples:
- A client project
- A trip you are planning
- Recipes for a dinner party
- Articles for a team meeting
Create a collection
Section titled “Create a collection”- Open My Collections in the sidebar.
- Click Create Collection.
- Give it a clear name, and a short description if it will help later.
Use names that still make sense a month from now.
Add saves to a collection
Section titled “Add saves to a collection”You can add a save while creating it, or any time after:
- Open the save’s ⋯ options menu and choose Add to Collection.
- Start typing the collection name and pick it from the list.
- Confirm.
A save can belong to more than one collection, and tags still work on it as usual. To move a whole batch into a collection at once, select multiple saves and use Add to Collection in the bulk actions bar.
Add notes inside a collection
Section titled “Add notes inside a collection”Collections are more than folders: each item in a collection can carry its own note, so the reason you saved something stays close to the link:
- Open the collection.
- Click Add note on an item and write your note. Use Edit note or Remove note later to change it.
Use collection notes for:
- Why the save matters
- What to do with it next
- The quote or section to revisit
Reorder saves inside a collection
Section titled “Reorder saves inside a collection”Items in a collection stay in the order you give them. Use the Move item up and Move item down arrows on any item to arrange the list.
This is especially useful for:
- Reading queues
- Meeting prep
- Recipes you plan to cook soon
- Step-by-step research lists
Rename or edit a collection
Section titled “Rename or edit a collection”A collection’s name and description are editable at any time, from the collection’s own page:
- Open the collection.
- Click Edit collection (the pencil next to the collection name).
- Change the name or description and click Save.
The saves inside are untouched, and the collection keeps its place in your sidebar.
Delete a collection
Section titled “Delete a collection”- Open the collection.
- Click Delete collection (the trash icon next to the collection name).
- Confirm with Delete.
Deleting a collection removes the grouping only. The saves it held stay in your library, and any other collections they belong to are unchanged.
Pin a collection to the sidebar
Section titled “Pin a collection to the sidebar”Click Pin collection (the pin next to the collection name), and it appears under My Collections in the sidebar on every page, so a project you are in every day is always one click away. See Pin the tags and collections you use most.
Collections or tags?
Section titled “Collections or tags?”Use a collection when the group itself matters: a fixed set of saves with a description, notes, and manual ordering. Choose tags when you want one save to belong to many ideas at once. The comparison table in Use tags breaks it down.
